As a Louisville, KY Dodge Ram dealership, it’s no surprise we have a large selection of used Ram trucks to pick from. The Ram 1500 is lauded as one of the most dependable and hard-working trucks found on and off the road in the United States. Its features and options are showcased across six trim levels. Instead of spending time looking up the different trim levels, we’ll be covering what each 2020 Ram 1500 trim level offers so drivers can make an educated choice on which option will suit them best.
The 2020 Ram 1500 Tradesman is the base trim level for that model year. Don’t let that base-trim-level label throw you off because this truck has a great deal to offer hard-working, hard-playing drivers. Its standard features include 18-inch wheels of painted steel, a trailer brake-control system, six seats, heated side mirrors, automatic headlamps, push-button start, hill-start assist, and electronic roll mitigation. It also comes with the Sentry Key theft-deterrent system, remote keyless entry, a ParkView backup camera, a 3.5-inch driver-information cluster, and a Uconnect 3 infotainment system with a 5-inch display.
Its glass is available with a deep tint, and its power windows go up or down with a single touch. The Tradesman’s standard engine is a 3.6-liter V-6 E-Torque version issuing 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. It also comes tied to a 48-volt mild hybrid unit with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an overdrive gear. Other engines are available and will be listed at the bottom of this article.
The 2020 Ram 1500 Big Horn is the next trim level for the model year, gaining a much more metallic outward appearance than the Tradesman. The grille and bumpers go from black to metallic, as do the wheels. The door handles are upgraded to chrome and body color, and the rear window can now be slid open and shut. Seating for five is available. The steering wheel gets upgraded to a leather-wrapped version.
The third trim level for the 2020 Ram 1500 picks up a noticeably long list of upgrades. Cost-to-equipment, this is the best trim level up to this point. The wheels are upgraded to 18-inch aluminum painted versions, the infotainment system is upgraded to an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4 unit, and all the fog lights, headlamps, and tail lamps are upgraded to LED.
Parking this beast is a breeze thanks to its ParkSense front and rear parking assistance system with an automatic emergency stop. The sliding rear window is upgraded to a powered version for increased ease of use, and the front seats are upgraded to eight-way power-adjustable versions with lumbar supports.
The seats also have memory settings, so different people can set them to their ideal configuration with the push of a button. The sound system has nine speakers and comes with a SiriusXM satellite radio. The steering wheels and rear seats are heated, the front seats are heated and ventilated, and the remote engine start is standard. The driver’s information cluster unit gets enlarged to 7 inches at the Laramie trim level.
Choose the Rebel trim level if you prefer a darker, more mysterious-looking version of the 2020 Ram 1500. The paint job becomes dual-tone, with the primary body color covering roughly four-fifths of the vehicle from the top down. The remaining fifth is painted a deep black. The steel grille is replaced with a heavy-duty black version, and the metal bumper is replaced with a half-black half-steel version at this trim level.
In addition, the wheels change to 18-inch painted black versions, hill-descent control is added, and the shock absorbers are upgraded to the performance tier. The hood is replaced with a short performance hood that increases air cooling intake for the engine. The steering wheel is perforated with accent stitching. Finally, the steering gear, fuel tank, transfer case, and front suspension setup all get skid plates. This is an ideal trim level for off-roading, thanks to that extra layer of heavy under-body protection.
This version of the 2022 Ram 1500 is ideal for drivers who have complicated and varied commutes or who regularly go on long vacations to new places. This is mainly due to the inclusion of a Uconnect 4C NAV infotainment system with an 8.4-inch display and SiriusXM Traffic Plus with Travel Link.
This infotainment system has a highly detailed GPS ideal for navigating complex routes. It comes with large 20-inch aluminum polished and painted wheels, high-definition radio, a spray-in bed liner, and a wood-trimmed and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Luxury floor mats are also standard for the front and rear floorboard areas.
The Ram 1500 Limited is the truck’s grandest and highest trim level for the 2020 model year. It gets fancy 20-inch polished wheels with inserts, luxury door trim paneling, premium leather-trimmed bucket seating, a wireless charging system for smart devices, and a remote tailgate release. The gas and brake pedals can be adjusted to suit different drivers. The side mirrors are auto-dimming, and the infotainment system gets an upgrade to a 12-inch screen. The Limited trim level also comes with everything the Laramie Longhorn has, as long as it isn’t contradicted in this section.
All trim levels get the same base engine, but other options are available. The first is a 5.7-liter V-8 generating 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 granting 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Drivers who want to reach the 2020 Ram 1500’s maximum towing capacity of 7,730 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,302 pounds should choose the turbo-diesel option. Our service department will gladly take care of any upgrades you require, and our finance department is at your service.
